DUE MONDAY: Essay on Great Depression, period 5 only

Essay on Great Depression: How do people survive crises? What is the role of the government to help them? -
It’s 1934 and Roosevelt is President. You are unemployed… (See ‘Scenarios)’ Write a letter to President Roosevelt as an unemployed worker, farmer, family member, youth or artist who got a job in the 1930’s due to the policies of the New Deal.
Tell FDR how the Depression has affected you and your family. See ‘Scenarios’ for ideas.
Explain the New Deal policies you have read about in the news.
Explain the specific program that helped you. Tell the president the work you are now doing in this program.
Give the president advice on what else he can be doing for the unemployed, the poor, the segregated society or segregated army, etc.
